Psssst! He's behind you!

  1. The first cartoon raises a good point. What if the priest knows something, through Confession or otherwise, which should stop a marriage taking place. Does he speak now or forever hold his peace?

    God bless.

    1. Hmmm. I certainly don't feel the priest should react as in the cartoon! But I do feel that if he's genuinely aware that he's received something in Confession that impedes the wedding vows he should counsel that person to admit it to the prospective partner. I really dislike the idea that anyone would have such double standards; to have transgressed in such a way and then feel the marriage could go ahead because they'd confessed..? Don't get me started Victor! : ) God bless too!

  2. Hmmm ... what if the priest KNOWS that one of the couple is a cheating so and so with many partners? And he counsels that person who takes no notice and decides to marry all the same? Does he let a marriage go ahead?

What a dilemma? Perhaps I should write a Father Ignatius story about it.

    God bless.

    1. :-) The thing is Victor, Father can't actually put himself forward when he asks if anyone knows of any reason why they should not marry: bond by the sacrament of Confession... This is certainly a job for Father Ignatius my friend! I'll look forward to reading this!
      God bless x
